On the home Stretch to June 1st

We are looking forward to the family appreciation day in Athens tonight.  Remember that election day is June 1st and we need all our volunteers to assist in this last week, call the headquarters today to take a shift!

May 23
My wife and I attended two church services this morning and were overwhelmed by the warm reception and enthusiasm. Thank you everyone for your support!

May 22
We set a new high standard for being everywhere across the district. I began the day with two breakfasts in Lauderdale County, drove to Huntsville for WEUP's bike rally, addressed the crowd in Jackson County, and finished the day at a party in Huntsville. My supporters and volunteers amplified my presence by helping out at events in Lauderdale and Limestone counties. Thank you all!

May 21
I had more meetings with community leaders, then took a trip to Rogers High School for a fundraiser. I shook over 250 hands and we walked away with tons of supporters!

May 20
It was a great day in spite of the rain. I had meetings with community leaders and interviews throughout the day and night.

May 19
I spoke at a high school senior assembly in Huntsville and we registered plenty of Seniors to vote. These events never fail to rekindle my love for the democratic process. Remember to vote!

May 18
Our headquarters was full of volunteers all day! Thank you all for coming out to help us. I went back to the Shoals to meet with more labor folks and I believe we won over the majority of people there.  Last night I had an opportunity to speak to a local union in Florence and met some great folks. The response I hear when I speak at these events is incredibly positive!

2 weeks left!

With 2 weeks left until Election Day our campaign is in full force.  We are mobilizing our volunteers and shaking as many hands as we can before Election Day on June 1st.  Our opponents seem to not want a debate as our calls have gone unreturned.  As such we will continue to take our message directly to the voters of the 5th district and we are confident the energy and passion we have shown on the campaign trail will translate to success on June 1st.  If you would like to help with our effort, please contact our headquarters today!

May 16

Another busy weekend, my wife and I enjoyed church services on Sunday.  Sunday afternoon, I went to a fundraiser where we had a lively discussion on how to improve public education in North Alabama. Thank you very much, Mitchell family!

May 15

Saturday was packed, as it usually is, beginning with the Mayor's Bike Ride in Huntsville. I stopped by the Day of Action at my campaign HQ to rally the troops and help out before heading to the "Behind the Gates" exhibition put on by our incredible service men and women from Redstone Arsenal. I went back to Athens for WEUP's Day in the Park before ending the day at a fundraiser, where I enjoyed great music, great food, and great company. Thank you very much, Mitch and Debra!

May 14
It was another busy day traveling across North Alabama. I began my day by talking to business agents from the Shoals about my jobs plan. At the North Alabama African American Chamber of Commerce Small Business Expo, I met a lot of people and gained support. My family and I went out to the Athens Rodeo before heading to Lowe Mill to talk with more voters.

May 13
I started the day off talking with more high school seniors and helping them to register. We traveled to the Lawrence County Democratic party's monthly meeting to meet people and catch up with old friends. Last, we went to the dinner and political rally in Rogersville, where we met a lot of good people!

May 12
We started the day off by talking to high school seniors about the democratic process. Then we met with more members of the local clergy and then participated in a Peace & Democracy meeting in the afternoon. I capped the day at the Rocket City Democrats' gubernatorial candidate forum.

May 11
I am very grateful that WAAY taped 2-minute spots for each of the Democratic candidates, I just wish we could get a real debate going so that everyone could hear us on the issues. A quick tour of the Veteran's Home reminded me of my grandfather and his dedication to service. At the North Alabama Labor Council meeting, I think we opened some eyes to our serious commitment to labor.

May 10
Union folks from Limestone, Morgan, and Lawrence counties responded to my jobs plan and support for labor, in the morning. The participants at "Green Drinks" liked the environmental benefits of the Green TVA. It was a great day for my Green TVA plan!

For nearly a century Alabama's fifth congressional district has benefited from honest Democratic representation in Washington. Recently this has changed and we are already seeing the fallout.

I want to bring honesty and service back to the people of North Alabama.

My family settled here nearly 200 years ago and I went to Huntsville high in North Alabama. After serving this country as a judge advocate general in the United States Air Force I returned to Sweet Home Alabama to raise my family here and start my own small business. North Alabama is one of the shining stars in America and we deserve a hardworking congressman that will represent our values with honesty and integrity.  And who is committed to service. I want to be the fifth district's Democratic Congressman to continue our rich tradition of prosperity by actually working to get things done in Washington. I am committed to service and will work for strength in our nation's defense, improvement in our education system and policies which encourage quality jobs, because that is what's best for our nation and our district. I'm asking for your vote and support in the Democratic primary on June 1st.
